In Indonesia Carquam Jamu was traditionally used to increase energy and stamina. Referred to as daun kopi (leaf coffee) it was popular amongst farmers and workers for its ability to relieve fatigue and increase motivation. However, in China and throughout Cambodia it was used to relieve pain, assist muscles relaxation, stiffness and soreness. The herb’s diverse effects are possible through the many compounds contained inside the plant, effectively creating a plant that is itself a virtual pharmacy!

This rating means its beneficial for many varieties of pain without risk of overdose – there is a ceiling to it analgesic effects, unlike opioids and other synthetic pain relief medication. It’s also safer than nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen, which studies shown can cause gastrointestinal pain, bleeding and organ damage.
Muscle-relaxing alkaloids make up part of the broad-spectrum compound profile of Carquam. At medium to heavy doses they induce a calming effect that works in harmony with other key components. These actions can help reduce the severity of headaches, chronic pain, injury, muscle spasms, arthritis, and osteoarthritis.
Laboratory scientists have studied the herb to attempt to isolate individual alkaloids, however once they are removed they are less potent, and the body quickly builds up a tolerance making them less effective. The conclusion is that Carquam in its raw form – as nature created it – is already perfect.
